Tockington Methodist Church continues a long tradition of Christian worship and community service in the village. Formerly part of Olveston & Tockington Methodist Church, the congregation is now based in Tockington following the closure of Olveston Methodist Chapel. While the church’s ministry once spanned both villages, it now centres on the historic Tockington Chapel (1897) and the Wesley Rooms on the Green.

Guided by the mission, “We seek to worship God, make new disciples for Jesus Christ, and reflect his teaching in the community,” Sunday worship is held at 10 a.m. in Tockington Chapel. Occasionally, special services are held at 6 p.m., along with seasonal celebrations and community events throughout the year.

The chapel has been thoughtfully modernised to provide flexible seating, excellent acoustics, and technology support. It seats up to 60 people and includes a disabled-access toilet and kitchenette. The adjoining Wesley Rooms offer a welcoming and adaptable space for community activities, with kitchen facilities, accessible amenities, and room for informal gatherings, talks, meetings, and classes.

Community life continues to flourish through regular social activities, including the Friday coffee gathering (held on the first Friday of each month), cream teas on Bank Holiday Mondays, and the annual Harvest Fayre on the Green. In partnership with St Mary’s Church, Olveston, pastoral care extends to those who are unwell through visits, plants, and “Get Well” messages, reflecting the church’s commitment to serving the local community.

While the closure of Olveston Chapel marked the end of an important chapter in the church’s history, Tockington Methodist Church continues to offer a welcoming place of worship, fellowship, and service for all.
