We were delighted to welcome Bishop David and his wife Peninah from the Methodist Church of Uganda to our circuit from 14 October to 8 November 2025. Their visit was a wonderful opportunity to deepen connections between our churches in Bristol and South Gloucestershire and the Methodist Church in Uganda.
During their stay, Bishop David and Peninah visited many of our churches, including Westbury-on-Trym, Horfield, Badminton Road, Zion United Church, Hanham, Staple Hill, Potters Wood, and St Chad’s in Patchway. They took part in worship services, devotions, community events, and school visits, meeting local ministers, church members, and outreach teams along the way. Highlights included attending the Circuit Evangelism Sunday at Zion United Church, visiting our food hubs and schools, and taking part in discussions about local mission and ministry.
The Bishop and Peninah also spent a few days in London, where they visited Wesley Chapel, led a morning worship service, and met with leaders at Methodist Church House. This gave them an insight into the wider work of the Methodist Church in Britain and strengthened links between our countries.
As part of their visit, they shared the needs of a Methodist boarding school in Uganda, and our circuit was able to present them with a generous donation to support the school’s vital work. Bishop David and Peninah were deeply grateful for this contribution and the demonstration of our shared commitment to education, mission, and global fellowship.
We are delighted to say that Bishop David and Peninah are now safely home in Uganda, taking with them many warm memories of their visit and plans for future collaboration. It was a truly special visit that strengthened friendships, encouraged collaboration, and inspired us all to continue building life-giving connections across continents.
