Horfield Methodist Church recently hosted a magical event for children and adults alike: their annual Christmas Journey. The church transformed its worship space into a theatre stage, creating an immersive experience that brought the story of Christmas to life.

The journey began warmly, with visitors enjoying a cup of tea and delicious cake. From there, participants were guided into a room bathed in starlight, where they learned the story of how God created the world in seven days and the special gift He sent to humanity.

Next, the adventure led visitors to discover the nature of this gift. They first met Mary, who was busy making bread and kindly shared it with everyone. An angel appeared and revealed that Mary would miraculously bear a child through the Holy Spirit.

The journey continued to a field with sheep, where the angel announced that Jesus had been born and encouraged everyone to find Him. Following the path, visitors discovered the newborn in a humble barn, hearing the story of His arrival through the perspective of the farm animals. They then met the Wise Men, who discussed what gifts to bring for the baby Jesus.

The experience concluded in a cozy room, where participants learned more about Jesus’ life and received inspiring messages about kindness, love, and caring for others and the planet.

This creative approach to sharing the Christmas story captivated young audiences. Horfield Methodist Church invited three local schools and performed the journey twice daily, also welcoming scout and toddler groups, and opening the event to the wider community. Over 500 children had the opportunity to hear the story, reflect on Jesus’ life, and be inspired by its message.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in making this event possible. It was a lot of hard work, but the result—a joyful, educational, and heartwarming experience for children and families—was truly worth it. Well done, Horfield Methodist Church!
