We invited the many community groups who use our church premises to join us for an Open Morning. Almost all of them participated with enthusiasm, setting up stalls, putting on displays and demonstrations, peforming live music and dancing. There was a buzz of conversation, the aroma of bacon butties (provided by 78th Kingswood Scout Group) and a lovely atmosphere. The church raised over £350 for Turnaround Bristol and collected a large heap of Christmas gifts to pass on, and the sewing club raised £250 for MacMillan. But the best thing was each group feeling part of something bigger: the church strapline is “At the heart of the community with Jesus at the Centre”. That became real and visible.
