Good News from Hanham Methodist Church

Hanham Methodist Church recently celebrated its 175th Anniversary Weekend with a joyful programme of events that brought together church members, the local community, and visitors interested in the church’s rich history.

Saturday’s celebrations featured a fascinating exhibition of photographs, memorabilia, and historical displays, attracting both members of the congregation and people from the wider community. Children enjoyed a dedicated activity corner with a scavenger hunt, colouring, and word searches, while the afternoon tea proved to be a popular treat for visitors.

For many, the highlight of the exhibition was the opportunity to reminisce, share memories, and explore old photographs that captured the life and witness of the church over the years.

On Sunday, the celebrations continued with a special anniversary service, followed by a delicious celebratory lunch. Guests enjoyed wonderful food, and the beautifully made anniversary cake, prepared by Linda, provided a fitting finale to the meal.

The success of the weekend was made possible by the dedication of many volunteers. Special thanks go to Natalie for leading the 175th Anniversary celebrations, to Pam B and Angela for coordinating the lunch, and to everyone who helped prepare the exhibition, welcome visitors, steward the displays, move furniture, cook, serve, and tidy up afterwards. Every contribution helped create a warm and memorable celebration.
