There was a wonderful buzz of joy and laughter at Hanham Methodist Church as the congregation and wider community came together to celebrate Shrove Tuesday in true Pancake Day style!

The church hall was filled with the delicious smell of freshly cooked pancakes as volunteers worked tirelessly at the pans, flipping and serving what must have been hundreds of golden treats throughout the day. From classic lemon and sugar to a variety of favourite toppings, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

It was a delight to see so many people gathering — families, friends, neighbours, and members of the wider community — all sharing tables, conversations, and plenty of smiles. Events like this remind us of the simple but powerful joy of hospitality: creating space where everyone feels welcome and connected.

Shrove Tuesday marks the beginning of the journey into Lent, a season of reflection and renewal in the Christian calendar. What better way to begin than by celebrating together, strengthening community bonds, and sharing in such a warm and friendly atmosphere?

A heartfelt thank you goes to the incredible team of volunteers who gave their time and energy to make the afternoon such a success. From preparing the batter and cooking pancakes to serving, clearing, and welcoming guests, your hard work and generosity are deeply appreciated.

It was truly a day to remember — full of fellowship, fun, and fabulous pancakes!
