At Unity Oldland Methodist Church on Covenant Sunday, we were delighted as a family to celebrate with one of our members who was awarded the British Empire Medal in the New Year Honours List.

Margaret Slucutt who has been Church Secretary and a steward amongst other roles within the church was given the award in recognition of decades of community service, working with older people in South Gloucestershire as well as organisations such as Southern Brooks and One25 who work with women in Bristol who find themselves on the streets of the city.

Margaret is an invaluable member of our church, she organises our monthly Coffee Morning and the fortnightly Nita Nata group amongst many other things! She carries out vital pastoral work by keeping in regular touch with our housebound members and until recently was responsible for collating and producing our monthly newsletter.

We send our warmest congratulations to Margaret on this amazing achievement, Unity is very proud of her!
